UN Resident Coordinator praises Nigerian elections

International observers of the presidential election in Nigeria have declared the election free and fair, according to the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Nigeria, Daouda Toure. Riots broke out in the north of the West African country following the election of the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. He’s called for an end to the violence. His main rival for the presidency general Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the north said the violence was unwarranted and criminal.

Gerry Adams asked Mr Toure what role the UN has been playing in Nigeria.
