Secretary-General at Chernobyl motivated to work for nuclear safety

A visit to the site of the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine which exploded on 26 April 1986 has motivated United Nations Secretary-General to help make nuclear energy as safe as possible.

Construction work is going at the site to cover what remains of the nuclear reactor involved in the disaster.

United Nations Secretary-General, who is visiting Ukraine, said he was extremely moved to be at site of the disaster.

Gerry Adams discussed the visit to the site with Spokesman Martin Nesirky who is accompanying the Secretary-General on his visit to Ukraine.
