The Secretary-General says that some people with autism suffer terrible discrimination, abuse and isolation and this violation of their human rights cannot be tolerated.

“We can support parents. We can create jobs for individuals with autism based on their skills and strengths. We can improve public education to better meet the needs of students with autism. Doing this will help people with autism and enrich all of us. As the mother of one child with autism said, “Although my daughter has walked a long way, I have walked a longer way. Together, let us travel this road towards a more caring and inclusive world.”
