FAO to supply emergency seed kits to Côte d’Ivoire farmers

Farmers are being given extra support in Côte d'Ivoire in an attempt to save the upcoming rice and maize planting.

Côte d'Ivoire refugees arrive in Liberia.

Thousands of farmers are getting emergency seed kits over the next few days, just in time for the rainy season, which is perfect for planting.

This comes as peace talks continue in the country, following the surrender of former leader Laurent Gbagbo, to current President Alassane Ouattara.

The UN’s Food and Agriculture organization (FAO) is supplying seeds, tools and fertilizer for around 12,000 farmers not only in Côte d’Ivoire, but also the neighboring country of Liberia.
