Six Kenyans ordered to appear before the ICC

Six Kenyans suspected of being behind the violence that followed the disputed 2007 elections have been ordered to appear before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on 7 April.

The ICC has issued summonses for the Kenyans who include three suspended ministers and a former police chief.

The ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo is accusing the six suspects of crimes against humanity, including murder, forcible transfer, persecution, and for three of the accused, he has added rape.

An estimated 1, 200 people died and over half a million fled their homes during the violence.
