The use of deadly force against demonstrators in Yemen has been condemned by the United Nations Secretary-General.

Yemen is the latest country to experience anti-government protests which have swept across North Africa and parts of the Middle East.

Fifty people were killed as Yemeni security forces reportedly opened fire on demonstrators in the capital, Sana’a, last week.

Martial Asseme asked Samir Al-Darabi, the director of the United Nations Information Centre in Sana’a, about the latest developments in the country.
