International Crisis Group says war in Côte d'Ivoire can be avoided

Earlier this week, seven women in Côte d’Ivoire were killed by security forces in Abijan, the commercial capital of Côte d’Ivoire in a conflict between forces loyal to Laurent Gbagbo, the incumbent president and those of Alassane Ouattara, who has been internationally recognized as the winner of the November Côte d’Ivoire elections.  The UN Security Council on Thursday called on parties to the Côte d’Ivoire conflict to resolve their differences peacefully to avoid a resurgence of civil war.   Comfort Ero of the International Crisis Group, ICG, says that organization has outlined recommendations on how an all-out war can be avoided.
