Ms. Jolie, Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) says civilians must not be targeted or harmed. Julie Walker reports.

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie said in a statement “All I’m asking is that civilians be protected, and not targeted or harmed.”

In both Libya and Cote d’Ivoire, the fighting has made it difficult for humanitarian organizations such as the one Jolie represents, to help those in need.

The actress said, “We have to give people safe passage, evacuation if needed, and ensure they have asylum. We don’t want to look back and find their deaths are on our hands.”

Jolie made the statement while in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she has been on a two-day visit rallying support from humanitarian agencies to help returning refugees.
