Security Council holds emergency session on Libya

As protests and violence escalate in Libya, the UN and the international community are calling for restraint on the part of the government there.  The UN Secretary-General spoke directly with Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi and urged him to immediately stop the attacks on anti-government demonstrators. Meanwhile the UN Security Council is holding consultations on the situation following a request from Libya’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. UN radio’s Julie Walker reports.
