At a Security Council briefing, the OSCE members welcomed Lithuania as this year’s chair and reflected on the challenges ahead.

Philip Parham, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the UN, highlighted the importance of partnerships.

“The response to the Kyrgyzstan crisis last April was a demonstration of the effective cooperation between the OSCE, the European Union, and the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia. These three bodies worked towards resolving the situation, and restoring peace and stability.

The OSCE stretches across 56 countries from the United States, across Europe and Central Asia to the borders of China.
