UNICEF Report

That’s the message coming out of the “2011 State of the World’s Children” report released by the UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

It says the cycle of poverty and inequality can be broken if more attention is given to adolescence, which it describes as a “pivot point”.

Mima Perisic from UNICEF’s Adolescent Development Unit says young women especially can boost development.

“If girls are getting education the benefit is not only benefit for them but it is benefit for their families and for their communities. “
