The president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, has resigned following weeks of protest against his government across the north African country. State television announced that Mr Mubarak had handed over power to the Egyptian armed forces. The announcement came as hundreds of thousands of protestors gathered for an 18th day in a row in Tahir Square in Cairo calling for him to stand down.   Maha Fayek spoke to Nabil El Arabi, a former Egyptian Ambassador to the United Nations on the line to Cairo.
