The joint Africa Union/United Nations mission in Darfur, UNAMID is expected to be more robust in carrying out its mandate in the coming year, according to its head, Ibrahim Gambari.

In 2010, Darfur continued to be a dangerous place in which to work. On Thursday three UN humanitarian air services personnel were abducted in the west of the region.

Insecurity and instability remain and make the work of facilitating humanitarian access extremely challenging.

Daniel Dickinson asked Ibrahim Gambari, the Joint AU-UN Special Representative about insecurity in the region.
