UN helps to combat violence against women in Southern Africa

A handbook to help combat violence against women in Southern Africa has been launched by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, (UNODC).

UNODC handbook

The handbook and a training curriculum are aimed at improving the capacity of police forces in the region to deal with the problem of gender-based violence.

UNODC says it is working with officials and civil society to support law enforcement and national criminal justice systems in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
