UN food agency scales up food aid to Ivorians in Liberia

Food assistance to Ivorian refugees in Liberia is being scaled up by the World Food Programme (WFP).

The United Nations food agency says it is targeting over 22,000 refugees sheltering in 23 villages in the border area as the political stalemate continues in Côte d’Ivoire.

WFP’s assistance programme to Ivorian refugees began earlier this month with the distribution of 5 metric tonnes of high energy biscuits.

The agency is now providing one-month rations of cereals, vegetable oil, pulses and corn soya blend to the refugees.
