The Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), Daniel Bellemare, submitted the indictment and supporting materials to the pre-trial Judge, who will review them

The situation in Lebanon has been marked by rising tensions in recent months.

The government of national unity collapsed last week when 11 cabinet ministers from Hizbollah and allied groups resigned over the Tribunal’s work.

In a statement, the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon said that the “independent judicial process” should not be linked with a political debate.
