Security Council condemns attack on UN peacekeepers in Côte d’Ivoire

Attacks on United Nations peacekeepers in Côte d'Ivoire have been condemned by members of the Security Council.

In a statement they expressed their concern over continued violence and human rights violations in the West African country.

Council President Ambassador Ivan Barbalic of Bosnia and Herzegovina said those responsible for crimes against Untied Nations personnel and civilians must be held accountable.

“The members of the Security Council strongly condemned and demanded an immediate halt to the use of media to propagate false information to incite hatred and violence, including against the United Nations. The members of the Security Council condemned attacks against peacekeepers and civilians.”
