“Optimism” and “passion” on second day of voting in Sudan

Voting in Southern Sudan

People have been voting with “optimism” and “passion” on the second day of the referendum on the future of Southern Sudan according to the United Nations.

Around 4 million people are registered to vote in the referendum which will decide if the south of Sudan splits from the north top form a new country.

The referendum vote lasts until next Saturday.

Reem Abaza asked Darrin Farrant, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General’s Panel on the referendum, what the three panel members had observed on day two.
