Opposition HQ "attacked" as stalemate persists in Côte d'Ivoire

The United Nations in Côte d'Ivoire is verifying reports that the headquarters of the opposition leader Alassane Ouattara have been attacked.

It’s thought that forces loyal to the incumbent president, Laurent Gbagbo carried out the attack on Monday morning.

Mr Gbagbo refuses to step down despite the widely supported claim that Mr Ouattara won the election.

Reports are coming in from Côte d’Ivoire of an attack on the headquarters.

Hamadoun Touré, from the UN mission to Côte d’Ivoire, UNOCI explained where the attack took place.
