A funding shortfall of $420 million in Haiti has held back reconstruction efforts according to the UN’s humanitarian affairs office, OCHA.

This week marks the one-year anniversary of the earthquake which devastated the Caribbean country leaving 250,000 people dead and almost one and a half million homeless.

Haiti is still in the process of recovering from the dramatic events of last January, but this recovery could have been quicker if more money had been available.

Patrick Maigua has been speaking with Elizabeth Byrs from OCHA.
