A team of ten international football stars are featured in the comic book “Score the Goals: Teaming up to achieve the MDGs” which has been published by various United Nations agencies.

The football stars are shipwrecked on an island and whilst there try and come up with solutions for tackling the eight Millennium Development Goals.

Antoine Tardy is from the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace which coordinated the launch.

“Well, first of all we are mobilizing the convening power of ten football players, football stars, and for kids those start they are really role models. They have the power to actually convey important messages and key values to the kids around the world. So we draw on that power of the sports celebrities and football players in particular to reach out to the kids.”
