Each year, the World Water Week Conference held in Stockholm, Sweden, honors individuals who, through their efforts and dedication, are making a difference in the world on water-related issues. Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak is one of the six individuals who were honored at the Stockholm International Water Institute.

The twenty six year civil war in Sri Lanka has ended. But for the 300,000 civilians displaced in the final clashes between Tamil Tiger rebels and the government army, their suffering is far from over. In a briefing at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, executive director of the Center for Policy Alternative, a US-based think tank, put their concerns on the table.
