The annual United Nations meeting of global leaders begins

The 63rd session of the UN General Assembly began on September 23rd. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon set the tone for the meetings to take place during the next three months by laying out the priorities and challenges facing the world community.

Changing views of migration in the Asia-Pacific region

Is migration in Asia helping or hurting the economy and its people? The Asia-Pacific High-level Meeting on International Migration and Development, which took place at the end of September in Bangkok, Thailand, looked at migration in the region and its relationship to development. The meeting also provided a forum for dialogue among countries.

Contaminated infant formula in China

Chinese health ministry officials have confirmed that a melamine-contaminated powdered infant formula has caused more than 6-thousand cases of kidney stones in infants and three deaths across the country. The World Health Organization is helping Chinese authorities investigate. Sari Setiogi of WHO has the details.
