UN Calling Asia – a weekly 14-minute magazine programme, in English, that keeps you in touch with UN developments covering Asia and the Pacific.

"Greening the Olympics" is a concept that dates back to the Olympic Games of 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway. For the Beijing Olympics, UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme, has been working with the Beijing organizers to raise awareness of the need to incorporate sustainability provisions into all aspects of the games, from the construction to the actual holding of the event.

International Day of the World's Indigenous People is observed

This year’s commemoration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous People was observed in New York on Friday, 8 August, and focused on efforts by indigenous peoples and States to foster reconciliation. UN Radio's Patrick Maigua spoke to a group of indigenous people from Nepal, Thailand and India about their cultures and the recent adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2007.
