Students Celebrate Abolition of Slavery in Global Videoconference

Primary and secondary school students in Denmark, France, Senegal, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom and the United States were linked with other students at UN Headquarters in a global video conference on the theme "Forever Free: Celebrating Emancipation". The live interactive forum was one of a series of events taking place during the week of 18-25 March to commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which falls on 25 March. It was organized by the UN Department of Public Information, in collaboration with UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
