					<description>Prime Minister Cyrille Adoula opened the Bukama Railroad and the road bridge over the Lualaba River this morning. The re-opening of the Bukama Railroad marked the resumption of rail communications between the province of Katanga and the rest of the Congo after an interruption of two years. The road bridge was re-built by the Engineer Platoon of the 20th Swedish Battalion with the assistance of the National Congolese Army (ANC).&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;A Swedish Army carrier crosses the Bukama Bridge. Swedish engenieers of the 20th Battalion finished the bridge in time for the opening ceremony.</description>

					<title>Congo (Leopoldville) Encourages &#034;Self-Help&#034; Projects by People</title>

					<description>Seventeen community development projects are underway, in the Congo to encourage the rural populace to use &amp;quot;self-help&amp;quot; and mutual aid principles to better their living conditions. The projects were established by the Central Government of the Republic of the Congo (Leopoldville), and the United Nations Civilian Operations in the Congo (ONUC) is also assisting in the programme. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Youngsters watch &amp;quot;animateurs ruraux&amp;quot; paint a new home in Luluabourg. Sixteen new homes were completed in the town through &amp;quot;self-help&amp;quot; methods. Each house required about 600 hours to complete at a cost of 40,000 Congolese francs and consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. September 1963.</description>

The water flooded some 800 dwellings which shelter an estimated 1,600 families and has affected 10- to 12,000 persons in Albertville.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Children wade in lake waters that have flooded an avenue lined with coconut trees.</description>
