Security Council Extends Darfur Mission for One Year
The Security Council votes to adopt resolution 2063 (2012), extending the mandate of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) through 31 July 2013. The Council approved the Secretary-General’s recommendation to reconfigure the mission so that its personnel focus on areas of the region “with the highest security threats”. The vote was 14 in favour, with one abstention (Azerbaijan).
