Disembarkation of Indian Troops Recalled from the Congo
In March, this year, some 2,400 officers and men, part of the Indian UN Congo (ONUC) contingent, were recalled to strengthen India's own defences. The Indians were replaced by reinforcements from Indonesia. In Mombasa, where the homebound troops were flown from the Congo, they embarked on a US naval vessel, General R.M. Blatchford, and on 25 March they reached Bombay.
