UNAMID Assesses Damage after Deadly Ambush
At the African Union-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) base in Kutum, Sudan, a peacekeeper reveals the damage done to an armoured personnel carrier after an attack last week that killed one South African troop and injured three others. UNAMID peacekeepers were travelling in the vehicle on 17 October to investigate reports of violence near Hashaba, North Darfur, when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
