Afghan Boys Travelling from Kabul to Salang Pass for Eid al-Fitr
Afghan boys travelling from Kabul to Salang Pass (north of the Afghan capital) to join relatives to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday which marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. The day is observed with festive gatherings of families and friends for meals and prayer. In a message for the holiday, Ján Kubiš, UN Special Representative in Afghanistan, expressed his "hope that the spirit of peace and harmony at the heart of these religious days will also strengthen the national effort to find peace in Afghanistan."
