Council Authorizes Supervision Mission in Syria, Condemns Military Coup in Guinea-Bissau
Susan Rice, Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN and President of the Security Council for April, speaks at the meeting of the Council at which Members unanimously adopted resolution 2043 (2012), authorizing the establishment of a 90-day UN supervision mission in Syria (known as UNSMIS).
Immediately preceding the meeting on Syria, Ms. Rice also issued a presidential statement condemning the recent military coup in Guinea-Bissau, rejecting the plan for a political transition in the country, and demanding the release of its interim president and prime minister.
