Council Extends Mandate of WMD Non-Proliferation Committee
Manjeev Singh Puri, Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the UN, addresses a meeting of the Security Council at which Members unanimously adopted resolution 1977 (2011), extending for 10 years the mandate of the so-called 1540 Committee, responsible for monitoring efforts to prevent the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by terrorists and other non-State actors.
