Timor-Leste Holds Second National Village Elections Under UNMIT Supervision
Election workers begin vote count at the Second National Village Council (sucos) elections of 9 October in Dili, Timor-Leste. The elections, which are supervised by the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT), are held simultaneously in 442 sucos across the country. Candidates are vying for positions as village chiefs and members of village councils for the first time since the first round of village elections in 2004 and 2005.
