UNMIT Helps Prepare for Timor-Leste's Second National Village Elections
Lilit Umroyan (left), UN volunteer working at UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) , and Nicolau Freitas de Sa (right), UNMIT Human Rights Office national staff, visit a Muslim orphanage in Baucau. This is part of their research into "vulnerable" groups ahead of the Second National Village (sucos) elections of 9 October. Their visits are intended to determine who is not exercising their right to vote and why. This orphanage houses adolescents above the age of 17, which is the voting age.
