On the occasion of United Nations Day, an excellent telecast of a visit to the United Nations, titled “U.N. Open House”, was presented over the full CBS-TV network. The tour had been arranged by the U.S. Committee for U.N. Day, in cooperation with the U.N. Department of Public Information. Thirteen cameras followed a succession of visitors through the buildings and interviewed Madame Pandit, President of the General Assembly, and the Secretary-General on their way.
Before the beginning of the hour-long telecast, Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld chats with guides (left to right) Gay Horimiotis, Jill Wilds and Nina Bjerre, of the American Association for the United Nations, who starred in the program.
