Drug abuse is spreading at an alarming rate in many parts of the world with dangers for the drug takers and society as a whole. Efforts to deal with the problem on an international scale have a long history. The United Nations has established the fund for Drug Abuse Control (UNFDAC) to develop and execute short and long term plans and programs. The fund works in cooperation with other UN bodies, specialized agencies and international institutions concerned with drug abuse control.
