New Agreement between Egypt and Israel; New Tasks Assigned to UNEF
In September 1975 Egypt and Israel signed a new agreement and protocol relating to their forces in Sinai. Under the new agreement the UN Emergency Force (UNEF) buffer zone separating the forces of the two countries has been extended and now includes coastal areas along the Gulf of Suez. UNEF will continue to monitor the redeployment and limitation of forces. Colonel Tauno Kuosa (Finland), at right, Commanding Officer, UNEF Forward Headquarters, with an Israeli Liaison Officer at the village of Rad Malab. This area which is under the control of the Israeli forces will be turned over to the United Nations on 30 November. Southern Sinai, Egypt.
