ONUC Military Detachment Sent to Kongolo
An ONUC military detachment has been sent to the town of Kongolo in North Katanga, in order to maintain public order and to prevent civil war, after reports received by the United Nations Operation in the Congo (ONUC) had indicated that the Kongolo Bridge had been destroyed on the Kilubi side, about five miles northeast of Kongolo, by withdrawing Katanga forces.
