Midwife in Tonglewin Village, Liberia
Tonglewin Village elder Kou Pealea has 30 grandchildren. Despite an infection in her knee she works in the field every day with her colleagues from the Ganta Concerned Women's Group. Before the war Ms. Pealea was a midwife--until her clinic was burnt to the ground by soldiers. Now she delivers babies inside her home.
