Tour Service at the United Nations Headquarters
At United Nations Headquarters, the American Association for the United Nations (A.A.U.N.) maintains a Unit which, in cooperation with the Special Services Division of the UN Department of Public Information, welcomes visitors, answers questions, gives public briefings and operates a Guided Tour Service. The tour service, which began on 20 October 1952 with a staff of 10 girl guides, is now manned by 50 women speaking fifteen languages and had conducted more than 500,000 persons on tours of the buildings by 15 October 1953.
