ONUC Troops Secure Road Blocks and Positions Around Elisabethville
On 28 December, units of the United Nations force in the Congo were ordered to secure road blocks and positions around the perimeter of Elisabethville, from which Katangese Gendarmerie had maintained indiscriminate and uncontrolled firing at ONUC forces. By the 3rd of January, ONUC troops had completed these operations and occupied the towns of Kipushi and Jadotville.
