Conversing at Nicosia airport, shortly after the arrival of an advance party of Canadians on 20 March to participate in UNFICYP, are (l. t. r.): Col. Edward Amy, Commander of the advance party of Canadians; Mr. Pier Spinelli, Under-Secretary in charge of the European Office of the UN, who was Personal Representative of the Secretary-General in Cyprus during General Gyani's leave; and Major-General Flores Paiva Chaves, Commander of the UN Emergency Force in the Middle East (UNEF), who had replaced General Gyani as Commander Designate of the UNFICYP during the latter's absence.
