United Nations Day in the Congo
A programme of special activities was planned in Leopoldville in connection with UN Day, 24 October, by the Congolese authorities in cooperation with United Nations Operation in the Congo (ONUC) OPI. The programme consisted of Congolese folk-dancing and songs. UN films were shown, and a school holiday was proclaimed for all schools throughout the Congo.
