The United Nations Emergency Force, since its creation during the winter of 1956, has maintained a constant vigil along the Armistice Demarcation Line and the International Frontier. The vigilance in the southernmost portion of the Gaza Strip is maintained by soldiers from Brazil in the sector which borders on Sinai and includes the towns of Khan Yunis and Rafah.
Brazilian soldiers are seen here keeping a watch on the Armistice Demarcation Line. At the extreme left is an Observation Post flying the UN Flag.
