Brazilian Contingent of UNEF to Return Home from Gaza Strip
Lieutenant General E.L.M. Burns, Commander of the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF), this morning bade farewell to some 350 Brazilian soldiers who are sailing from Port Said on Saturday, 30 May, for Rio de Janeiro. The men are being rotated after one year of service with UNEF.
Here, during the ceremonial farewell parade, Gen. Burns (white uniform) presents to Sgt. Nimes a diploma from the Brazilian Government for outstanding work in UNEF. With Gen. Burns are Col. V.L. Schilling (l.), Brazilian Liaison Officer with UNEF HQ, and Lt. Col. J.C. Ruy, Commanding Officer of the Brazilian Battalion.
