UNEF Troops from Brazil Guard Maintenance Area
A Company of the Brazilian Battalion with UNEF in the Gaza Strip guards the UNEF Maintenance Area at Rafah. Private Alfredo Pereira Junior, a Brazilian soldier serving with this UNEF Company, is seen here (left) arriving at the main gate of the Maintenance Area to take up his position as guard there. He is replacing the other soldier (facing) who has just completed his period of duty at the gate. At night an even more intensive vigil is kept - the entire fence around the area being constantly patrolled.
