United Kingdom to Abstain from Voting on Palestine Issue
British Secretary of State for the Colonies, Arthur Creech-Jones, addresses United Nations Security Council debate on the Palestine Question. At table, from left to right, are: Andrei A. Gromyko, USSR; Mr. Creech-Jones; Senator Warren R. Austin, United States; and Joseph Nisot, Belgium.
Mr. Creech-Jones declared that while his Government strove to meet the wishes of the Palestine Commission, British public opinion would not permit further entanglement in a policy which one or the other of the parties in Palestine is determined to resist.
