First African Cartographic Conference Opens in Nairobi
The first international cartographic conference for Africa opened in Nairobi, Kenya on 1 July and lasted through 13 July. Convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in co-operation with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the conference covered information which would serve to assist the developing countries of Africa in achieving, more efficiently and more economically, their urgently needed production of maps.
