Original UN Charter Transferred into Temporary Custody of UN
The original U. N. Charter - which will be placed on display in San Francisco later this month during the commemorative meetings marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of the signing of the Charter in that city on 26 June 1945 - was transferred into the temporary custody of the U.N. this afternoon. Secretary-General U Thant and Ambassador Charles W. Yost, watch the opening of the safe, during the transfer ceremony. Opening the safe are Joseph Gannon (right), Administrative Officer, and Theodore Schottke, Senior Adviser (both from the United States Mission).
