STORYLINE:

Chief of UN mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) paid tribute today in Bangui to the fallen Egyptian peacekeeper who was killed on November 26 during an ambush.

Speaking at the memorial ceremony today (06 Dec), Parfait Onanga Anyanga, Chief of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) said “this is a true hero, somebody who has sacrifice his live to save the life of others besides already giving his live for the service of this nation.”

The Egyptian blue helmet Abdelnaser Mostafa was killed on November 26 during an ambush attributed to anti-balaka militiamen in the Bangassou region in the South East of the Central African Republic (CAR). Three other peacekeepers were wounded in this attack.

This latest killing brings the number of falling MINUSCA soldiers to 13 since the beginning of 2017. They all lost their lives on duties to help support sustainable peace and security in the country.
